When we first stepped into this kitchen, it felt exactly like what it was, a builder-grade space lacking personality, warmth, and intention. Carpet flooring ran through the home, stark white cabinetry felt flat, and the granite countertops dated the space instantly. There was no layering, no dimension, and no sense of home.
Our goal was to completely transform this kitchen into something elevated yet approachable timeless, warm, and deeply reflective of a refined California casual lifestyle.
The foundation of this transformation started with color and material. We replaced the harsh white cabinetry with a soft, creamy warm tone instantly shifting the entire feel of the space from cold to inviting. This subtle change created the perfect backdrop for layering textures and finishes throughout.

To complement the cabinetry, we introduced porcelain countertops and a full-height backsplash with beautiful, organic veining. Running the slab seamlessly up the wall allowed us to eliminate visual breaks, creating a clean, elevated statement that feels both modern and timeless

At the center of the space, the waterfall island became a defining feature. The continuous stone detail adds weight and presence while maintaining a soft elegance thanks to the neutral palette.
We paired the island with sculptural upholstered stools in a tonal fabric, bringing in softness and comfort while keeping the overall look cohesive and elevated.

One of the biggest challenges in this kitchen was the overwhelming wall of cabinetry. To address this, we designed a custom oversized hood that acts as a focal point and visually anchors the space.
This single move completely changed the architecture of the kitchen introducing variation, depth, and a custom feel that builder-grade kitchens often lack.

We layered in additional character with Roman clay walls, adding a subtle, lived-in texture that plays beautifully against the smooth cabinetry and polished stone.
The beauty of this space truly lives in the details:
- Unlacquered brass plumbing and fixtures bring warmth and a natural patina that will evolve over time
- A pot filler adds both function and a touch of luxury
- Scalloped pendant lighting introduces a playful, unexpected element while still feeling refined
- Carefully styled moments such as wood tones, soft ceramics, and layered accessories give the kitchen life and personality

Every element was selected to feel intentional, elevated, and effortlessly livable.
Beyond the kitchen, we carried wide plank oak flooring throughout the entire home, creating continuity and grounding the space in warmth. This was key in turning what once felt disjointed into a cohesive, inviting environment.
What was once a flat, builder-grade kitchen is now a layered, elevated space that feels custom in every sense. It’s warm without being heavy, minimal without feeling stark, and refined while still being completely livable.
Designed for influencer Amber Lancaster, this kitchen was created to not only function beautifully for everyday life, but to feel as stunning as it looks on camera.
