Our skyridge project has our true tailored California Casual look with a transitional flair to it. This house has much more of the traditional bones and elements so making this a modern bathroom would not fit with the rest of the house. We wanted to give them a more updated look with all the modern elements that come in a new bathroom.
This bathroom started as a standard 1970s builder bathroom. A large soffit with fluorescent lights hung over the excessively long vanity. We even had carpet that was on the floor of the bathroom…EW!
We took this bathroom down to the studs. Our clients like color so adding some color to this bathroom was a must for them. The color was obviously brought in through the gorgeous ceramic tile that was laid in a herringbone pattern. We accented the tile with a coordinating pattern tile in the niche for an additional pop. We brought in satin nickel fixtures throughout for a very timeless look.
The freestanding tub was a must in our book. Our clients like to take baths to cutting down the insanely large original vanity (without cutting out storage) and turning the freestanding tub long ways was the best fit for this space. It also allowed us to go with a lager size tub. The curves and lines on this tub work so beautifully with all the lines in the shower. A little sparkle needed to be brought in and no other place than in a chandelier over the tub!
We went with a custom stained vanity with lots of drawer storage and cabinet storage. This stain took a few tries to achieve the perfect color..but perfect doesn’t always come easy. Sometimes it takes a couple round to get that exact wood tone we have in our minds!
We used a quartz countertop that had bold movement throughout which pairs so effortlessly with the vanity color. Adding brass wall sconces was something we pushed for in our designs to break up all the stain nickel fixtures. And believe me, both my clients and I are so happy they took our advice!
Adding some floating shelves perfectly styled and a beautiful tray and greenery was the finishing touches this bathroom needed!
